I don’t like it, Plus, it sounds difficult to pronounce (More-Rie-uh). Mariah is way better. And don’t be caring if it’s too associated with Mariah Carey.

It's rude to say bad things about the name Moriah (my name). It's a pretty name that means 'seen by God'. If you just wanna say it's trashy, REMEMBER! Consider that children may be reading the comments about their own names.
Moriah is the name of the youtuber Moriah Elizabeth. She mostly makes videos about squishies.

Not sure why, but this name sounds comedic to me. The meaning is also somewhat nothing-ish. I guess that's why it's an uncommon name. I really consider this a bad and ugly name. I wouldn't give it to my child.

'Since the 1980s it has occasionally been used as a feminine given name in America' ... and it seems to have been in use, albeit rarely, since the 1600s in England. The majority of records where the sex of the bearer is apparent seem to have been female, but there's a will for a Thomas Moriah Otton dated 1767, so it may have been unisex.
The name Moriah was given to 281 girls born in the US in 2016. More than 99.9 percent of people with the first name Moriah are female.

My name is Moriah. I think it's OK if you guys think this is an awful name but God gave my mother a vision of me and she saw my name, "Moriah". Thank you for the ones who said lovely things about this name.
This name makes me think of the word "moratorium." I don't like it.

Some of you commenters who think this name is a knock-off of Mariah are so ignorant! Did you even read the entry for this name? This was a place name in Genesis of the Bible that means "seen by Yahweh", or in other words, "seen by God." Mariah, "bitter; of the sea; wished for; love", has nothing to do with it, seeing as Mariah is a later form of Mary. Also, Moriah is a Native American word meaning "wind." It's a very lovely, elegant and almost ethereal name.
I think Moriah is a very pretty name, but I don't think I could ever use it. Mount Moriah is the name of a cult that's located within a few miles of where I live.
This is my middle name, however my mother spelled it M-O-R-I-A and left the h off. It makes it very unique BUT I often have to correct the pronunciation because it is usually mistaken for Maria. Even though my mother used the spelling M-O-R-I-A we use the pronunciation of Mariah.

My name is Moriah, and I pronounce it mo-rye-a. But most people just say "mo".
@bananarama. The name is Moriah. Not Mariah, which has an entirely different meaning. I've also seen all your comments, and they're all like "don't name your kid this because it is so trashy!" Please stop. People might not agree with you. Anyway, it's really upsetting seeing all these type of comments from you- of course it's okay to dislike names, but don't go overboard- because you are. Anyway this name is so beautiful and pretty, to all the Moriahs out there!:D I really like to say it:3.
For some reason I'm okay with it when it's spelled Mariah, but not Moriah. This spelling makes me think too much of Moria, the place from Lord of the Rings. I don't like the place Moriah from Lord of the Rings.
