In the miniseries Mildred Pierce (2011), Mildred’s youngest daughter is named Moire. The little girl goes by the nickname Ray and Mildred mentions that she and her husband read the name and thought that it was pronounced “moy-RAY”. She didn’t realize it was pronounced “MOY-ruh” until she heard a priest say it aloud.
