Minta Bosley Allen Trotman (1875 – 1949) was an African-American suffragist and community leader, who played a prominent role in "promoting the social welfare and civic participation of black Americans" through her work in Brooklyn. Her daughter Catherine Allen Latimer was the first African-American librarian at the New York Public Library.
I love this name. It's the name of one of my closest friends, and it really suits her - her whole family has a hipster-ish kind of vibe. However, I do think that it can sound a bit childish sometimes. It also sounds great in an Australian accent!

Minta Durfee (Araminta Estelle Durfee, October 1, 1889-September 9, 1975), silent screen actress, specially best known for her appearances in several Charlie Chaplin films when he worked for Mack Sennett's Keystone.
I'm very fond of this name. I recently found it on another site and instantly loved it. I also love the meaning. It's really nice and unusual. I am kind of having a difficult time deciding between Minta and Aminta, but I'm leading towards Minta. Aminta would also make a fabulous middle name, in my opinion.
