'Milton' was the name given by Elizabeth Gaskell to the northern industrial town at the heart of her novel "North and South"; it was modelled after Manchester, where Gaskell herself lived.
Milton is a character in the comedy Office Space, which was based on the cartoon "Milton", both created by Mike Judge.

Milton was a horse who, under rider John Whitaker, won many international events in show jumping. Throughout his career, Milton rarely touched a rail or refused a fence. He was a favourite with the crowd, many times ending a successful round with a great jump into the air. Even after his retirement, he was adored by all.
