It's my cousin's name kinda- his real name is Michael after our uncle but my aunt didn't want his nickname to be the generic Mike, so they came up with Mick.
I don't really think it's a famous bearer, so I'll just put it under my personal impression: Mick is the name of Ninten's (the player's) dog in the game Earth Bound Beginnings (also known as Earth Bound Beginnings and Mother).
Michael Charles Avory, born 15 February 1944, went by the name Mick. He was the drummer of the British rock group the Kinks, and he stayed in the group for quite some time, although he didn't get along with the lead guitarist, Dave Davies. If you say his name quickly, it sounds like the somewhat made up surname "McAvery."
Mick is also used in The Netherlands and Belgium (Flanders, to be specific), where it is also a short form for Michael. The Dutch popularity list for Mick on this website should be a further indication of that. [noted -ed]
"Tik Tok" by Ke$ha references Mick Jagger."And now the dudes are linin' up, 'cause they hear we got swagga, But we kick 'em to the curb unless they look like Mick Jagger".

Mick Ronson, guitarist of the Spiders from Mars, David Bowie's semi-fictional band to go with his album "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars."
Mick Doohan is a fantastic MotoGP World Champion! I also happen to have characters named Michael and Miguel who are both called Mick. I like this because Mike is rather common and Mick reminds me of a fair dinkum Aussie.

Converted to IPA, it should be: /'mɪk/ [noted -ed]
