My middle name is Meta and my first name is Elise. (Elise Meta). It was my great-grandmother's first name, and I really like how rare and unique it is. I pronounce it "May-da", and I was told that it was of German origin.

This is actually my name. :] My parents lived in Italy for a year and they had a friend who had this name. Mine is pronounced May-tuh. The t sounds sort of like a d. It's not like a straight 'uh' sound though, it's natural.I love my name, it's unique, and it's funny to hear people pronouce it, 'cuz then I get to correct them. ;]
I can't imagine anyone using this name with the concepts of metaphysics and what not being so common. In a way, it would be a cool name specifically because of that.
