The name Meraud is traditionally a feminine name meaning "a gift/ profit from the sea", of medieval Cornish usage. Despite sounding similar to the French name Emeraude, it is unrelated and actually connected to the Welsh name Morfydd. Apparently it rhymes with Herrod.https://nameberry.com/b/girl-baby-name-meraud
In my name book, this is what it says about the name Meraud: it is often assumed that the name is derived from "Emerald", but others suggest that it is more likely to have evolved from an earlier Celtic name, perhaps based on "mur" (the sea). Confined largely to Cornwall, where records of it go back to the 13th century. :)
I believe it is Cornish and could mean 'little one of the sea' though not sure how accurate my source was.
