Melicent

“Mel” can be a nickname.

I named my daughter Melicent. Nobody seems to know this name (or Millicent for that matter), but we get a lot of compliments. I think it suits a child as well as an adult. We chose it because it is unique/ rare, sounds nice (reminds one a bit of mellifluous, I guess), and because its meaning (strength) fits her perfectly. Also Melisende, Queen of Jerusalem, is an impressive historical figure. The only thing is, you have to like Mellie/ Millie or somehow come up with another nickname.
