It's cute, but I find it a bit boring. I knew a lot of girls named Maja/Maya/Maia in high school, and to me it has started to feel as blank and stale as the likes of Emily and Alyssa. Other than this, it's a nice name.
Such a pretty, sweet little name! Maja is also (widely) used in Hungary; at least for the last couple of years. It was #37 in 2009, up 15 spaces from 2008! :) I really like popular names. When I was little, I watched a program which had Maja, the Bee in it. :) Currently, I would like to name my little daughter Maja Panna. Those names are SO darling together! Hungarian names are so beautiful, if one fully knows how to pronounce them!

Why the lower rating for this name? I think it's pretty and certainly deserves "good" as opposed to "above average."
