I was really surprised at the origin of this name. I've only encountered it among white French-speaking people and assumed it was just a variation on Maeve. I feel like the similarity has to have something to do with it. It's a cool name!
I absolutely love love the name Maeva. It's cute and beautiful. It's the new more modern version of the old classic name Maeve or Mavis. I love the nickname Maeve.
Maeva is also used as a masculine name in Tahitian and French. However, it's more common for females. So, I think that the "Gender" of this name should be changed from "Feminine" to "Feminine & Masculine". Some evidence for this is that Maeva is also used as a name element in unisex and masculine Tahitian names, such as Maevarau.Source: https://forebears.io/x/forenames/maeva
One of my favourite girls name ever! I love the name Maeva! I think it’s beautiful! I love old names made more modern & this just kills that for me! Maeve is still very beautiful and could be used as a nickname! My friend has a tradition in her family - all girls names must start with the letter M - I hope she uses this name!
I like the version Maëva (pronounced Mah-eh-vah), I think it sounds absolutely beautiful.

If this name was pronounced as 'may-vuh' then I would add it to my list /: Much prefer that pronunciation.

My sister up top's (who's half Samoan like me) name is Maeva and it's pronounced "ma -EH -va" . Like the EH is "e" in egg. I like this better than Maeve.
I really like how this name sounds and the meaning -- "welcome." It feels like if a parent gives child this name, they are welcoming their baby into the world.

Maeva is a great name. I love Maeve and Méabh, but they are so overused in Ireland. Maeva is a lot more unique, and it's a very beautiful name. Even nicer than Maeve, I must confess. I really like it. I think it would suit any sort of girl.

My name is Maeva and I'm half Samoan so my name is pronounced like this-mah-EH-va. But everyone just calls me mayva because they cannot pronounce it.
Since my last name is Maeva it does have a lasting impression. The name was given to me by my father, and his father was from American Samoa, which seems to be a large family in the islands. The e is silent and is actually pronounced more with an long a sound Ma'ava, something do do with the actual vowels recognized in their alphabete.
Maeva is a wonderful alternative to the Irish name Maeve, which although is nice enough has an unwanted meaning of "intoxicating".

Actually, the Irish name is Meabh or Meadhbh (both pronounced MAYV). Maeve is just the anglicisation. You cannot call Maeve the Irish form, since "v", as a letter, and the diphthong "ae" does not exist in Irish.

I think this name is very beautiful. It would work well as either a first or middle name.
