Going to comment on my impression of the name. I've never been crazy about this nickname, especially since I have very little faith in Lula as a leader (even if he is preferable to that monster Bolsonaro). As the person below said, here in Brazil it's very blatantly associated with Lula the president - as I've never met him personally, I don't know any Brazilians who go by Lula.

This is not given as a first name in Brazil, where it’s mostly associated with the current (as of 2023) president. His birth name was Luiz Inácio da Silva, with Lula (his nickname) being incorporated to his legal name later. Other than that, “Lula” is also the Portuguese word for “squid”.
