Lucrece Borgia, a play by Victor Hugo, was based on the life of the historical Italian royal beauty Lucrezia Borgia (1480-1519), one of the supporters of the Renaissance, who is often described as a heartless political tool of her infamous family.
Lucrece (with no accent) is also the English vernacular form of Lucretia. It was used by Shakespeare in the narrative poem The Rape of Lucrece, based on the story of Collatinus' wife.
For some reason, this name is bursting with life while it still maintains an elegance.

This spelling is erroneous: the correct spelling is Lucrèce. Peculiarly, Lucrèce is used for both the masculine form (from Lucretius) and the feminine form (from Lucretia). [noted -ed]
