Such a pretty name on a boy! It doesn't strike me as especially feminine, but it's definitely not masculine to the point where it sounds plain goofy. I just love this name!
I know Luca is masculine, but it sounds very feminine to me.
I love the name Luca! It’s so sweet and it means light! Also it fits well with any age. I like it more as a middle name than a first name because there are no nicknames.
Weird.
Cute! It’s super popular though, (most likely because of the Disney movie) so I’d probably just use it as a middle name.
Luca for a girl name? Interesting.
My best friend is named Luca and she's definitely a girl. We've talked about gender before (I'm nonbinary) and she identifies completely and totally as a cisgender girl. I don't care that it's supposed to be a boys name or that some of the other commenters think it's ugly on a girl--i think it's one of the things that makes her unique and an awesome friend!
Great name, it reminds me of laughter, adventures and curiosity of nature, music, dreamscapes, and space. Very buoyant and handsome and cool.
I really like this name. Luca is a really cute name for a little boy, but it sounds incomplete in my opinion, so I would probably go with Lucas/Lukas. Luca is a great name for a boy, and only masculine. I can’t imagine this name on a girl. For a girl, I would go with Lucy or Lucille.
Handsome boy name to me.
Handsome and way better than the ugly overused Lucas.
Like the Slavic counterpart "Luka", just because the name Luca ends with letter "a" does not make it feminine. Luca is a masculine name, variant of Lucas, and will always be that way no matter on what gender it is used. I love Luca for a boy, and have never considered it feminine or unisex in any way. Naming a girl Luca is like naming a boy Lucy. There are some masculine-sounding names that sound OK on girls, but Luca does not fall under the same category. Although I wouldn't name my son this (see my comment on Luka why), I personally think Luca has a nice meaning and strong sound.
I think this is a unisex name, it sounds fine for either gender. However, maybe it’s because it ends in the uh sound like many popular names like Olivia, Sophia, Emma. I envision this on a little girl. It’s still an okay name for a boy, but I personally would use Lucas or Luke instead, but those names are kind of popular so I understand why Luca is being used for boys.
In my opinion, I feel like this could be a nice girl/female name as well.
This name sounds really nice.
Luca is probably my favorite boy's name right now. I absolutely love it! It makes me think of a strong, handsome, and quiet boy. Generally speaking, I prefer the spelling Luka though.
Not much impression about this name. Plain, boring, and again, just boring, I just don't see charm in it, too trendy also, not the nicest name.
I'm a girl, and my name's Luca. If I had been a boy I was also going to be called Luca, cause my parents genuinely really liked the name. I have never been bullied for it, mostly because unisex names are on the rise. My middle name is Roxanne-Toyah, which I think goes well with Luca.
I actually like the name Luca. I prefer it to Luke. Luca on a girl? No thank you.
I love the meaning of this name. Plus it kinda sounds better than Luke.
Luca is a handsome name for a boy. For a girl, no comment...
I hate this name a lot.
I LOVE the name Luca, my best friend had this name, though he was using it as a short form of Lucatiel (A character from Dark Souls). I miss him a lot.
So wonderful! Short, simple, but still sweet with good meaning. I really love this name. It’s not feminine, I can’t imagine this on a girl. This name is clearly for a boy!
I love the association with the Broadway actor Luca Padovan. I met him in real life, and he’s super sweet and kind to his fans!
Luca sounds so girly! I like this for a girl and Lucas for a boy.
Luca sounds nice, but I prefer Luka, and I only like it on a boy. Sounds ridiculous on a girl.
I agree with someone. Personally, I’ve always detested the names Luca/Luka/Lucas because they sound too feminine. Luke is so much better.
I am sick of people on here criticizing the androgyny of names. Like, why does gendering names matter that much to you? Don't police people on things so inconsequential; it's not worth anyone's time.
Anyway, I love this name. I often use it as an alias when I don't want people to recognize me online, and if I were to have to change my name & wanted it in a romance language, this'd be what I'd change it to.
No clue why the ratings are 51% feminine. Luca is a masculine name, and only masculine, and nobody will ever tell me otherwise.
I think this is a beautiful name and it is mine! There are about 3, 4 people that I know called Luca. It is more popular and it is soaring through England.
It's when I find names like this I wish I were Italian. It's such a nice name! Irish names are WAY to difficult to pronounce in the US. Hopefully I'll find something :P
If you were to ask me, Luca looks too incomplete.I much prefer Luke\Lucas\Lukas.
It's a nice name. It's very cute. I'm not sure how well it will age though, but it has quite a lot of history so I think it should be ok. But please, if you're going to use this name- 1. Have an Italian last name to go with it (ie. Be Italian. Luca Johnson sounds very tacky and trendy) and 2. Use it for a boy! I don't know why it's used for girls.
I will be honest and say that I enjoy this name-- "Luca." Though, an image of a Doberman Pinscher does not cease to appear in my head, hah. But I think that the use should be limited... the sound alone has the power to look incredibly spoiled, I suppose. In moderation, and used only on those of the original, intended decent/ethnicity of this name should bear it.Overall: my approval is given.
Ugh, I hate this name! It sounds so posh and effeminate. It makes me think of a spoiled European child.
I really like this name, if I had a son, I'd call him this, but the guy from the godfather puts me off.
Pronounced loo ka for a boy and loo tsa for a girl. I like both.
This is a beautiful name. It is commonly used in Italy also.
A very nice, handsome name.
I like this name because I like Italian names and this is the only Italian name I know.
My baby boy's called Luca and I love his name so much, it suits his Italian features, he is so beautiful. Only the most beautiful boys should be called Luca. Long live the name LUCA and my son too.
I really like the name Luca or Luke whatever you want to call it. My friend Luca has that name and he likes it so.
