My mom's ancestors came from Lorraine, France, and she named me 'Lorraina' as a nod to that heritage. The extra syllable helps fit in with my sisters, who all have three-syllable names ending with either 'a' or 'ah'. To anyone considering this name, be prepared for mispronunciations galore! I've been called everything from 'Alaina' to 'Serena' (even 'Louisiana' once. Wrong French guy, dude.)
