I have to say when I hear this name I automatically assume the bearer is Canadian. It is a nice name though, masculine. I can't imagine a girl named Lorne.

I love this name and have no idea why it has fallen out of favor in the past few decades. I plan to spell it "Lorn" only because, for some strange reason, my family tends to pronounce e's like a's (they thought "Lorne" was an alternative spelling for "Lorna" at first).
Lorne Michaels (born Lorne Michael Lipowitz) is a TV producer, probably best known as the executive producer of Saturday Night Live and the various movies that spun off from the show. Before SNL's appearance in 1975, he wrote for Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, a sketch show from the late 60s and early 70s often considered SNL's forerunner.
