Meaning & History
Means "not my people", derived from Hebrew לֹא (lo) meaning "no, not" and עַם (ʿam) meaning "people, nation" combined with the suffix י (i) "my". In the Old Testament he was the youngest son of Hosea and Gomer. He had an older brother named Jezreel and an older sister named Lo-Ruhamah. God commanded Hosea to name him Lo-Ammi to symbolize his anger with the people of Israel.
