Comparing the ratings on the names "Latisha" and "Letitia" — which are literally the same name, just spelled different — the racism and classism are truly leaping out. And I know it's specifically the spelling "Latisha" that is bothering people, because spellings like "Leticia" and "Letizia" and "Laetitia" are still well-received.Rating Letitia a "good name" that's "upper class" and "sophisticated" and "refined", but rating Latisha a "bad name" that's "common" and "unintellectual"? Jesus Christ. So the white-looking, Latin spelling of the name is seen as "wholesome" but the spelling more used amongst people of colour is seen as "devious". Unbelievable.Latisha is a solid spelling of a name that seems to otherwise be seen positively. It's not "ugly" — if the other spellings of a name pronounced the exact same way don't come across as "trashy" to you but this one does, you have some internal prejudices you should look at.
I agree with you so much here, the rampant racism & classism on this site has been bothering me ever since I started lurking it and the extra bad part about it is that it just feels so normalized that no one (except a few like you & myself thankfully) bats a eye to it.
My name is spelled La Tisha on my birth certificate, my name is pronounced la- Tee-sha and I am called Tish. Our name is beautiful however it is pronounced or spelled.

I think it's a cute name! And it annoys me that some people think that only African-Americans can be named this name... like what? Sorry, but was it ever a rule that only people of certain ethnicity's can be named certain things. That's kinda racist..

I think the name Latisha is a very pretty name even if it does sound like someone sneezing. My best friend's name is Latisha and she's a really nice person.

The people that said really ignorant, mean things about this name are horrible. You have to be down right stupid to even post something like that. I love my name, which is pronounced La-Tee-sha. If you don't like the name, fine, but there is no need for "adults" to make such ignorant remarks.
Every Latisha I've known has pronounced it lə-TEESH-ə. [noted -ed]

LaTisha hit the charts in late 1960's because there was a 1968 John Wayne movie entitled Hell Fighters where his daughter's name was Tish who played a significant role in the movie. In one scene, she was going to a doctor's appointment and said her name was LaTisha. My impression is that it is a ghetto-phabulous name.
This is my name and we pronounce it lah-TISH-ah. My nickname is Tish.

Latisha is such a beautiful name. It isn't very youthful but it makes up for that in its combination it flows properly. It's very sexy, wornderful, formal and great. I wish my name was Latisha.
This name can also be spelled as "La Tisha." This is how mine is spelled. It makes it difficult for some computers, though, as some will list my first name only as "La." Very irritating, but that is how it is spelled. Also extremely difficult to find a key chain with the name spelled this way; I have yet to find one.
In my honest opinion, Latisha is a name that chavvy parents give to their daughters. It's in the same category as Stacy, Marissa and other names that I can't stand.
