My name is Lane and I am very popular at my school. I always walk down the halls and hear kids screaming my name "Lane! Lane!". If you want your kid to be successful in school, name them Lane because I swear you won't be let down.
Lane Bradbury (1938-) is an American actress, known primarily for her roles in Night of the Iguana, Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, and Maybe I'll Come Home in the Spring.
It has feminine usage and it can also be a nickname for Lainey, Laney, or Delaney.

I think Lane is definitely a great choice for a boy middle name. Don't really have many male middle name options, but this one goes with just about everything. For a girl, not as much. Might name my son Everett Lane. For now it's a maybe.

Why are people so angry about this name? It's a beautiful name. I'm a female and my name is Lane. I've never seen it as masculine, the name always reminds me of a small hidden path within a meadow - a very feminine sounding name to me. It's a very unpopular name for some reason, but it's never hit me as childish or masculine - but either way, I find it to be perfect for either boys or girls or people who are nonbinary. It's just...pretty?
Personally I wouldn't call my kid this but I think it goes really well as a middle name for Ava Busby and just like I like some names, I understand that some people love this name and I don't get why so many people are hating on it.
I wonder why people are so passionate about hating names? It’s fine not to like a name, but why must everyone/strangers know about it? It was very special and lots of fun for me to choose names for my children. I have an 18 year old daughter named Lane Elise. I found the name Lane in a name book and had never heard of it at all. It was under the L section for Girls. I loved it immediately and then when we paired it with Elise, I just knew it was our girl’s name. We call her Laney occasionally, but no one else does. She’s lovely and adventurous and her name is perfection!
This is a nice name for a boy, NOT a girl! Get a grip with all this naming girls masculine names. It's stupid, and seems like some perverse form of attention seeking. Either that or the parents actually wanted a boy and were too lazy to come up with an actual feminine name when they had a girl.

“Perverse form of attention seeking.” For real?!? YOU need to get a grip. My name is Lane, I’m a female (named after a female). My mom wanted a girl... and here I am. Fine if you don’t like the name, no one really cares, but I’m 37 so this name has been around for a while.
I've always found the name Lane cute and unique for a guy. :3.

Lane Frost was a professional bull rider from America. He died young in 1989, and the movie of his life was called "Eight Seconds". He died in the arena while fighting a bull in Cheyenne. I love the name.
I don't think this name is tacky, or overused, I just think its rather boring. Plain. Nothing special about it. But its simple, I suppose. Easy to remember.
I believe there is a company called Lane Bryant, presumably named after a person.

Actually, it sounds really childish on a girl. Are you kidding?! Leave boys names to boys, for god's sakes! This is an ok name for boys, I think it would age well, but it seems more like a word than a name.

I think Lane is actually better on a girl, and it would age well. It's cute, but not too childish. Good for a boy, too.

I first saw Lane being used as a female name on the Gilmore Girls, though more recently it's the name of an English male character on Mad Men, Lane Pryce. It's a bit odd, at first, but it's grown on me. I like it!
I really like this name for both genders. But if I were to name a child this, I would definitely call them by the nickname Laney (boy) / Lainie (girl). Also, the meaning of the name is pretty boring, but at least the name sounds good.
There's a really weird lady I work with who I couldn't tell if she was a man or a woman for a while. It's weird when people like that have gender neutral names. Other than that I do like this name. I think it sounds nice for either girls or boys.

It's quite plain, but it's not a weird noun to use as a name. I think it works for both sexes.
I like this name as a middle name for Gracie. I think this is a sweet name, but I have never met a girl with the name. My daughter has a cousin named Lane (a boy). But I like it for a girl just as well.
My name is Lane, and I am a girl. I totally think that it is a good name for both boys or girls, and I hate the nickname Lanie. Just don't. Also if you're an American, keep in mind that certain unsavory slang terms sound a lot like Lane, and you wouldn't want your kid to be too angry with you on the first day of high school.

I prefer the spelling of LAYNE, it's a great name for a boy, childish sounding. I have a cousin named Layne Weston.
