This is my first name. It is pronounced to rhyme with "allergy"! It hasn't been the easiest name to live with and I have only met one other person with the name.

Lalage Bown, OBE, FRSE, FAcSS,(1927 – 2021) was an English educator, feminist and women's literacy advocate.
I'm guessing this is supposed to be pronounced lah-LAH-gee, in keeping with the Greek? I've never heard this said aloud, so I don't know for certain. However, my reflex is to pronounce this the "French" way, like I do with most words ending in -age in the English language. This makes it sound like we're making a winter cabin extra fancy: La Lodge! This makes it difficult for me to take the name seriously - especially when Lallie / Lally sounds quite comical. Sorry.
This is a very funny name. It would be embarrassing to have, and I've never heard of anyone with this name. Whether you pronounce it in the French way or in the English way, it's very amusing.
