We considered Laiken or Laken for our daughter, but received awful feedback from friends and family. I love the name Lake- we are Lake people and love the Lake life, so it just seemed to fit.

My son's name is Mark Lake but we call him Lake! My husband and I are nature lovers and earth signs, Virgos...our son was born a Taurus earth sign so we wanted to give him a unique name a strong name but nothing crazy! I love it for a boy or girl!
I know a boy named Lake, and a girl named Lakin. I also know a boy named River and a boy named Fisher. I honestly don't care for those names, I just never have. I have to say, Lakin is my least favorite name out of all of them.
First of all the people who name their babies have made special attempts to give their child the most loving name they can. The name Lake is a beautiful, creative, unique and soothing name. If you think of how the water in a Lake is you see everything that is lively in nature that surrounds it. It’s also a strong name with calmness attached to it. It brings joy, peace, togetherness. The people who dislike these unique names are placid, boring and narrow minded. If you don’t like the name a proud parent tells you, shut up. Don’t hurt them.

Not too bad but still a bit too relative to a real Lake.
I for one, and named Lake Tore D. D_____, quite like the name. It may not be the best but it suits me just fine. My mother, Michelle, and father, David, were awfully tired of their common type names and decided to name their children something unique and not bland. So those that insult my name saying it's just a feminine name, or not a real name at all, sorry but I would have to strongly disagree. It is better than Karen or Jeff or Chad or Jessica, at least it has some flair to it unlike the hapless masses.
I love the name Lake. My son's name is Lake. It is very unique and rarely used these days. I can't imagine his name being any different. I definitely think it should be a boys name.
This name seems more feminine than masculine. I still wouldn't use it, though. Lynn means the same thing pretty much, and (in my opinion) does the job a whole lot better.
This sounds silly and ridiculous on anyone. Are people that low on name ideas that they have to resort to common nouns now? At least other nouns can work as names, like Rose, Joy, and Violet!
I love that name as middle name for a boy (but it's okay for girls too) - I could definitely imagine to use it on a son.A "famous" bearer is Lake Bell - an actress on the TV shows Surface and Boston Legal.
Well, it's not totally absurd. People have been naming their sons (and even daughters) River ever since River Phoenix became famous, and it sounds almost ''normal'' by now, and Blake is a popular name. This could work, but it is a bit odd at the moment.
I adore this name for a girl and I want to use it someday. There is a lake nearby with my name so I am deciding to use the actual lake's name for my daugther.
Hmmm. I like this for reasons I cannot explain, as I'm not generally a fan of "word" names. I prefer it on a boy, and would probably only use it on a character, not a son.Could be confused by children to be "Blake". And they might get called "Lake the Flake" or "Lake the Fake".
I heard this name on TV recently and thought that it was very plain. It gave me the impression that someone was born in a lake to receive that name, or maybe just liked swimming.
