Kora Karvouni (Greek: Κόρα Καρβούνη) is a Greek stage and television actress. She has performed in various theatre productions in Greece, U.S.A., South Korea and Italy collaborating with notable directors such as Peter Stein, Anatoly Vasiliev, Dimiter Gotscheff and Laurent Chétouane. She has also participated in Greek television productions.
[+] While I like both Cora and Kora, I prefer this spelling because it's closer to the original Greek name. When I see Cora, my mind wants to add that 'l' and make it coraL, which isn't necessarily bad—it's still pretty—but the whole reason I like the name is because of the Persephone connection and I just *feel* it more when it's spelled Kora.I think this name, while German, would make a great English variant. [-] The only problem I have with Kora is that I fear it could be associated with trendy K names like Kaylee, Kayla, the sea of Kaitlyn variations, etc., and that people wouldn't realize it's a name with rich mythological meaning. However, I like it so much that I'm willing to deal with that possibility.
I like the name Cora, and this one looks like a pretty cool spelling of it to me. It's just that it also makes me think of the Koran, which is one way to spell it.
