I work with a Kimberly (she goes by Kim) and she's very hardworking and studious, I now connect this name to being serious yet very sweet at the same time with moments of comedy. I love this name due to her!
I really like the name Kimberly. I think that it would be a great choice for a child in upcoming years. As, it’s not very common anymore. It sounds warm and friendly, in my opinion. I don’t care about Kim Kardashian. Also, Kimpossible is an amazing association, in my mind.
A beautiful, old, but not dated name, in my opinion. It feels old in an awe-inspiring way, like when you look at a castle. My sister's name is Kimberly so maybe she has influenced my impression of this name. It's strong and sturdy, reliable, but still ultra-feminine, refined and beautiful. Just one of my all time favorite names. I hope it makes a comeback.

My name is Kimberly and I always liked it. People always shorten it to Kim. Professionally people will ask me if I prefer Kim or Kimberly and I say "Kimberly". I don't mind Kim. My family always called me Kim. I like how my first and middle name flow together. Kimberly Patrice!
The real spelling is Kimberley. So Kimberley is way better!

My name is Kimberly, and I am Hispanic. Sometimes I wish I had a more "Spanish" name but I do like the name and its meaning, I usually go by Kim or Kimmie, but I hate it when people take my name "Kim" and then call me Kim Kardashian or Kim Possible, I find it very annoying but over all, I really do like the name.
My name is Kimberly. I love the meaning of the name :p, though I don’t like how it sounds. I usually prefer nicknames, and I don’t care what I get called xD. I usually get called Kimchi, or Kimmi. I don’t think I would give someone the name Kimberly, because it’s a common name, and someone deserves a unique name that suits them.

I love it! It's so pretty and ages so well. I can see it on a child, teen, adult, and old lady.
My name too is Kimberly and I love my name. I think it's a beautiful name. Regarding nicknames I have always been called Em or Emma. And I know it's kind of a weird nickname but it's an emphasis on the M in Kimberly.
I was called Kimmie Bear as a nickname by my husband. But Kimberly is what I go by. My grandfather said he named me after the diamond fields in Africa.
My name is Kimberly. I love the meaning of Kimberly - Royal Forest. I love nature and animals, so I think it fits me quite well. I have always liked my name. I do go by Kimberly, not Kim, as it is more elegant. I'm a shy girl, complex, and creative. I draw, sing in chorus, act in theatre (drama finds me, but I'm working on being more zen), and dance (ballet, jazz, modern, and lyrical mostly.) I'm an elementary school librarian now (love to read), but my favorite job was at a nature center where I taught children and adults about nature and animals.
This is my name. I do really like my name! But I always introduce myself as "Kimberly" and most of the time people automatically shorten it to "Kim". I went by Kim while I was in school so it doesn't bother me too much but I wish people wouldn't automatically shorten it if I introduce myself as Kimberly. Personally I never associate my name with Kim Kardashian but I'm sure a lot of people think of her when they hear Kim or Kimberly.
My best friend's name is Kimberly. She is the nicest, funniest and most supportive person ever. I love her and I love this name.

My name is Kimberly, but I typically go by Kim. Golly the amount of times I got nicknamed Kim Possible in elementary school is endless (I loved it) lol.

My name is also Kimberly. But everybody calls me Kim, Kimmy or Kimber. I love my name and I love all of those nicknames that my friends gave me.

I’ve never liked Kimberly or Kim, but I suppose Kimberly is prettier than the shortened form. I would prefer the spelling “Kimberlie” though. The other spellings look too much like a secretary or something. For other nicknames, “Kimber, ” “Berry, ” or “Berlie” maybe?

I like the name Kimberly, mainly due to its classic nature and how pretty it is. If you want a better alternative to Kim or Kimmy, try Berry or Berrie, based on the -Ber sound. It sounds really pretty and although it may be a fruit like Apple, it sounds pretty and it sounds nice as well.
So I've seen people leaving comments about them meeting people with the name Kimberly and saying they were a bit of a witch and snobby and because there are some famous people named Kim or Kimberly that aren't very... let's just say nice... but my name is Kimberly and I love my name. I was named after the pink Power Ranger by my dad because he said she was beautiful and kind and smart. It doesn't matter what your name is, it matters how you choose to represent it. Just because there is one person that's not nice and has the name, doesn't mean they're the same. And how can a name be childish? The name is supposed to mean royalty and strong wielded.
Kimberly is a very nice name and if you had a bad experience with someone named Kimberly, then that's your problem.

When I was a pre teenager I used to love that name. I don't like it today. It sounds so tacky and pompous to me now. The initial "K" also fell into my concept along the years and I basically can't remember any name with this initial that I like nowadays.
Consider using the ancient origin of Kimberly, which would be Kimbree, Kinbarra, Kimbro, Kimbra or Kimber. These are closest to the name of the woman saint and princess who started the name, St. Cyneburgha. These options would be nice alternatives if you are naming after a Kimberly or if you are a Kimberly looking for a nickname. People do automatically shorten the name Kimberly to Kim, which is disappointing to some of us. Why is it more difficult for people to say than other 3-syllable names, such as Emily, Avery, or Marilee? Perhaps people get caught on the hard "ber" sound, or else they are just so used to most Kimberlys being called Kim?Kim is a nice, short name, but many of us wish we had a 2-syllable option. Something more feminine than Kim, but shorter than Kimberly, so it wouldn't automatically be shortened by others.
Although I didn't fully appreciate my name until I was in my 20's, I do like my name. It is not childish and it is not reminiscent of a witchy or snobby woman. It is quite entertaining how people can attach such fascinating imagery to a name, though. And utterly disappointing. How would you like it if someone told you that they thought your name was any of these things? It's silly, honestly. As for the "nicknames" of Kimberly... I personally do not like them for myself. I was called Kim until I graduated high school, but not by my choice. I hated it. To me, it was dull and boring and it didn't "work" with my last name. I started going by Kimberly as soon as I left school. Some people still use Kim and it irritates me. I often ignore them. I think it's impolite, rude, maybe even disrespectful to ignore someone's repeated requests to use a particular name, or title, when addressing them. I always introduce myself as Kimberly. Never have I said, "My name is Kim." So it baffles me why people find it acceptable to shorten my name. If someone introduces themselves to me as say, Francis (m), I'm not going to just call them Frankie. That's rude. I don't call Patricia Pat, or Elizabeth Betty. Why is it so difficult? Kimberly is a good name. It's not hard to pronounce. It's not ridiculous. It's not "old fashioned." And it certainly isn't plain. I don't necessarily think it's beautiful but it's a good name. Most people remember my name because it's not too terribly common. Maybe some day I'll be able to add my name to the list of famous Kimberly's, as an artist or an author. ;)
This is my name. I love it; Regal in meaning, sounds very Anglo-Saxon, and just lies between sounding Old World and Modern age. It's just a pity it's now most associated with, and tainted by, Kim Kardashian. And with her being so prominent in the media, it's use (ie: dilution) will only increase.

I think Kimberly is a great name because it has beauty in it, great for a girl. You should choose to name your child Kimberly because everyone will like the name and enjoy saying it. In fact, my name is Kimberly and I love the name.

My name is Kimberly and I absolutely love it! But I do not like my name shortened to Kim, which is what I was called growing up. As an adult I introduce myself as Kimberly and 90% of people automatically shorten it to Kimberly and this annoys me SO much! And then I feel like an arrogant snob if I'm constantly correcting and insisting on being called Kimberly rather than Kim. I wish there was a way to get this message across more clearly to people without being perceived as stuck up. I'd love to hear from others who feel the same way about their name Kimberly and how they have learned to handle the situation.
I think the name Kimberly is one of elegance and grace. Every female that I have ever met with this name was attractive, popular, level headed. Not boastful, vain, self centered. Always made you feel like you were the only person of importance in a group. Very nurturing, and willing to assist in anyway they could. You must be a special woman to live up to this name's stature.
My name is Kimberly, I was adopted two weeks before I turned 6 and I wish that my parents had changed my name! I always have hated my name, I just don't like the way it sounds and even though I went by Kim until my late 20's I only use Kimberly now, I guess it's better then Kim, or Kimmy! I just have never ever liked my name at all! I don't know many, nor have I ever known many Kim/Kimberly's/Kimmy's so I assume many moms didn't like the name either. You never see it on the popularity lists EVER so I'd just think long and hard before naming your daughter this name and please don't name your son Kym. I know it can be used for boys or girls but it doesn't fit, okay? So just don't do that to a poor guy! I knew one guy with the name Kym and he changed it the day after he turned 18! He said he always felt like his mom wanted a girl and never thought of a boys name so he just got stuck with the name she had for a girl and just changed the I to a Y in the spelling to make it look more boyish. Also, don't assume you know how to spell our name! There are many different ways, Kimberly which is how my name is spelled but there is Kimberley or Kimberely or Kimbereley or Kimberlee, Kimberlie the list goes on and on so ask :) and if someone, regardless of their name, tells you it's Kimberly, don't take it upon yourself to shorten it to Kim please :) If they wanted to be called Kim they'll tell you their name is Kim not Kimberly and vice versa.
The name Kimberly is for all ages. When someone is young they are called Kimmie. Then as time goes by, Kim is normally what people call her. My favorite version of this name is Kimerly because it sounds nice. A name doesn't make a person who they are. When we choose a name we choose it for it's beauty. Leave the people we dislike in the past where they belong. Be a good person. Kimerly is the name of a good person. My other favorite is Kimoreena.
I don't like this name at all. It feels kinda dated and childish, not to mention how common it is -- every school I've ever been to, there were like, ten Kimberly's.
My name is Kimberly, as you can (sorta) tell. I love my name, I have met many older Kimberlys but not any of my age. Honestly, I have seen many people on here say that when they think of Kimberly, they think of a snob or someone mean and someone whom talks a lot. Well, I can tell you from my point of view. I'm not loud, not at all. I am one of those people who get picked on because I'm so quiet. Yes, honestly, seeing all these rude comments have hurt my feelings dearly. Just because someone is named something does NOT mean that they are they way you think they are. My name is Kimberly. I am very quiet and shy and I don't have many friends either, but I don't complain because I love the friends I have. I just wish that people wouldn't think so badly of a name. That is kind of over the edge if you think badly about a name and "hate" it so much.
Well, my name is Kimberly, and I like it, but I chose the nickname Kimba because Kimberly sounded too formal and all the other ones were too cute. It came from Kimba the White Lion (TV show). My friends call me Kimber occasionally, which I don't like. One friends calls me "Kimberly the elderly" (even though I'm 14!) or "Kimberly the scholarly".
I have a friend called Kimberly (Her nickname is Kim) who hates her name because she thinks its too boring and common. I have to disagree with her, I think it's a great name, very pretty, and sounds intelligent.
This is my birth name/legal name.I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT, Everywhere I go there are already 6 milion kimberley's, and the nicknames for it are terrible. Kim... kim is a chinese/korean MALE name. And kimi, which is a finnish male name as well... I'm a GIRL.
I like my name, it's elegant without being too snooty. I get a lot of Kim and Kimber, but have always hated being called Kimmy, as I think it's just a little childish and girly and never really suited me. American pronunciation is quite different to UK and Aussie tongue, they tend to elongate the "ber" sound, so it sounds like you have a huge prickle in your name. Sorry to any Americans out there, I just love my native pronunciation too much!

Absolutely love the name Kimberly! It's funny how a previous poster mentioned all of the Kims they've met have been "snooty"--the several Kim's I know and have met have been kind, soft-spoken, classy ladies! I'm not so fond of the nickname of Kim, but all in all do like this name.
My mom was young when she had me and my Aunt Bonnie named me Kimberly. I have always loved my name. It's pretty and strong. I wish I would have used Kimberly more than plain Kim, when I learned it was also a boy name that was upsetting. There were 3 Kims in kindergarten. It also made you feel better when they called my name because there were 3 of us.

My name is Kimberley, I like it spelt with the 'e' as it looks better in my opinion. I think Kimberley is a elegant and classy name and I appreciate it more now I am older (I'm 26). I do not know any other Kimberleys, well not personally anyway. I was the only one with this name in my year at school which made it unique. Definitely a good name to name a girl.
Whenever I think of the name "Kimberly", I think of a pale little girl with freckled cheeks, greenish-blue eyes, and curly auburn hair hiding behind trees in a thick forest, peeking out shyly.
This is a nice name. I've only known one Kimberly (who goes by Kim), and she lives in my dorm. She's a very nice person, makes excellent artwork, and has the deepest voice you'll ever hear on a female! However, I'll still always associate Kimberly with the Pink Ranger from the Power Rangers. Sorry... I'm a product of the 90s. :-)

Love this name. I had a best friend named Kimberly when I was a child. She was one of my best friends and unfortunately moved with her parents out of state (far), but I still remember her. Other than that I really like this name on a girl and how it sounds. "Kim" for short, is also a cool and sophisticate name.

Reminds me of a dumb and sporty girl, but it's still an okay name. I don't like Kim as a nickname, because it's always thought to be a boy's name in my home country.

I really like the name Kimberly. I don't like the nickname Kim, but Kimmy would be okay when the child is younger, I suppose. After that though, Kimmy would be a horrible nickname, in my opinion. All in all, I like the name.
Kimberly is a really pretty name, although some of its beauty has worn off in all its commonness. I hate when people have this name and then insist on being called "Kim." "Kim" just sounds so plain.
It's not a bad name, but give it a rest. I've known so many in my life. It also makes me think of a preppy cheerleader or sorority girl. I also despise Kim Kardashian.
I wish Kimberley were the default spelling of this name--I think the form without the e is only used in the US (you can find many more Kimberleys in Canada and England and probably Australia). Just a personal opinion from a person who everyone assumes must not be able to spell her own name properly because she is named Kimberley in a Kimberly country. It's a small thing, but parents might remember it before naming their daughters--no one will ever spell it correctly if you're American, and she will never have anything with her full name on it that wasn't custom made or purchased elsewhere.
My best friend's name is Kimberly, and though I never really disliked the name, It never was one of my favorites. However as I got to know my friend Kim, the name has really grown on me. It is a name a person can really grow with, and make into their own.
Actually, I don't particularly like any names for girls beginning with K. And I can't imagine a grown woman being called Kimberly. However, I had a high school friend named Kim and while she was really wild, she was also a lot of fun.
Personally, I really dislike this name! In my opinion it's one of the worst of the surname names, and that's saying something.

I have known 2 Kimberly's, one was very nice and the other a real witch. Because of the one that was a witch, I wouldn't use this name. If it wasn't for her I would use this name, it is very pretty and elegant. For someone wanting to use this name I wouldn't worry about it being dated. I don't think it really should matter. I heard the name Kimberlyn and thought that was pretty too.

Well, Kimberly is my birth name. So I want to give a person who wants to use this name my honest opinion. Kimberly does have a very lovely meaning. But a lot of people named Kimberly do not like their name until adulthood. Why is that? For me I didn't like my name when I was younger because of the nicknames that derive from it. Kim for example was very annoying too me. It seemed so masculine and meaningless. Kimmy was too cute and Kimberly was too classy for a stranger to use so I was left with Kim. Also, if you live in the south people will tend to harden the "Ber" in this name. Which drove me crazy as a kid. The best part about this name would be that most people named Kimberly are kind, gentle, and down-to-earth. It has its good and bad traits.
Kimberly is my name and I like it, though I do go by Kim. I don't think that just because it's your name you shouldn't be allowed to have an opinion about it. That's crazy. And honestly? I don't give a darn that there are people who don't like my name. If you hate a name so much it drives you crazy or nutty, then you need some therapy.
Please when you talk about a name, don't say I love this name because it's my name. It's a conflict of interest. If my name was "Pencil" I could say "It's a beautiful, stong, and sophisticated name." but I have a conflict of interest because it's my name! I think the name Kimberly is a childish name. The only thing I like about the name is that one of the nicknames is Kim. Kim is better than Kimberly. I would never name my child Kimberly. Sorry to all the Kimberlys out there. I don't mean to hurt your feelings. I just really want to get my point across.

I know someone named Kimberly, and to me she's nice, but she's really a stuck-up snob. The variant Kimberlee is nice. Kim drives me batty.
I can't put my finger on it but there is something about the name Kimberly that makes me hate it. When I hear the name the first thing that comes to mind is the annoying neighbour Kimmy on "Full House".
I hate this name. It sounds so tacky. All the Kims I know are so annoying and are little snobs. It is a very childish name.

I really HATE this name. It sounds so irritating to me. Especially, the nickname Kim is the worst. It sounds awfully ugly. I can only have the ugly impression of this name, anyway. It's my personal opinion, though.

It's unfortunate that someone would "HATE" this name (I do however find it interesting that a person could detest a name so much - unless they've had a bad experience with someone bearing a particular name). Kimberly is a strong feminine name. Since many babies are being named unusual, "funky" names (many of which I like so this is not a "slam"), Kimberly may very well become a classic.

My name is a variant, Kimberlee. It's actually a pretty rare name, despite being 35th in popularity the year I was born. I've only known one other Kim. Ever.
Just like greeneyes, my name is Kimberly, though my mother calls me Kimber. I don't like being called Kimmy, because it gives me the impression of a Barbie doll, which I am not. In Old English, Kimberly means "royalty". I feel so lucky. ^^
To anyone considering naming their child Kimberly, it is a truly beautiful and elegant name, and you would have no regrets (obviously, in my opinion). This is my name and I love it (and all of its variants i.e. Kim, Kimmy, Kimber - which I am called). I have often been told that I have a beautiful name and by more than one person that if he/she had had a daughter they would have named her Kimberly. To me, it's feminine, yet strong at the same time (Kim means "chief, ruler"; or in Vietnemese "golden").
