I know someone with this name, and I personally find it adorable on him. It looks really nice and sweet on print, and all I can think of is cuteness; but at the same time, I still find it pretty masculine and strong sounding. Although, I'm not sure how the name would fit on an middle-aged or elderly man.
Kian is a Persian, or Iranian male name. Kian is an ancient Persian word meaning a symbol, or a bearer of pride of the country. I agree with most of the explanation provided in the following link: http://www.allempires.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=27880 [noted -ed]
Kian or Cian would be cute on a girl. It sounds more feminine to me. It's cute and sporty for a girl.

The Celtic meaning of Kian is "Ancient." The Persian meaning of Kian is "King" or "Royal". This can be found on BtN name database under the Iranian name Kianoush which is the Persian form of Kian.
