Kassandra is the protagonist of the video game Assassin's Creed: Odyssey. Also known as the Eagle Bearer, West Wind, or Keeper, she was a Spartan mercenary who fought during the Peloponnesian War.
In Greek mythology, Kassandra (also known as Alexandra) was a daughter of King Priam and Queen Hecuba of Troy and the twin sister of Paris. Her beauty caused Apollo to grant her the gift of prophecy. However, when she did not return his love, Apollo placed a curse on her so that no one would ever believe her predictions. She was the first to see the body of her brother Hector being brought back to the city. After the fall of Troy she was taken as a concubine by King Agamemnon and may have been killed by his wife Clytemnestra along with him, although there is evidence that she might have survived.
I absolutely love this name. It's been my pen name (and online persona) for quite some time now and I plan on legally changing my name to Kassandra within a year or so. After all, it is so beautiful and powerful and aristocratic and so much better than my current name. In my opinion, this is one of the more beautiful names out there.
