Karla is also a modern Spanish variant of Carla. It is more used in Latin America rather than Spain (source: https://forebears.io/forenames/karla).There are 1.958 bearers of this name in Spain, and the average age of the bearers is 15 (source: Instituto Nacional de Estadística).
I despise this name. I also find Carla very ugly. Just stick with the masculine name Carl.

I have literally never heard of a serial killer called Karla in my full 27 years of life. Jeez, it's a pretty name.

I am named Karla and I have mixed feelings about this name like one minute I like it and the next I hate it. Personally like it with a K rather than a C. I think it's more interesting spelled with a K and gives it more sass. My dad is Croatian which I may be wrong but maybe that's why I have it spelt with a K but "Karla" is my dad's name and my mum's name smashed together, fyi.
I really like this version of Carla. The K doesn't make it look too modern, like with Khloe, Karly, etc. It's possible I may be the only one, but I live in the US and I've honestly never heard of Karla Homolka.
My name is Karla. It is a beautiful name. Your child needs the name Karla for a girl and Carlos for a boy- that is my dad's name and if you are having twins which are boy and girl I suggest the names because they are rare and they go together. If I was you I would name my child that name. And there are famous people named like that and they are good role models.
More than 99.9 percent of people with the first name Karla are female. Also Lithuanian and Yiddish.

Karla Leanne Homolka, also known as Karla Leanne Teale and Leanne Bordelais, is a Canadian serial killer who, with her husband Paul Bernardo, raped and murdered at least three young women. She attracted worldwide media attention when she was convicted of manslaughter following a plea bargain in the 1991 and 1992 rape-murders of two Ontario teenage girls, Leslie Mahaffy and Kristen French, as well as the rape and death of her sister Tammy.
This is my name. I can't say I like the name yet I can't say I hate it either. I've only met two people with the same name in my entire life. I sort of like that.
Also the Croatian form. This is the most common form used, its variant Karola was once commonplace but would be considered old fashioned today. [noted -ed]
There are always going to be bad associations with a name. Nearly every name there is there is a criminal with that name. My name is Karla and I've never had any comment made to me about the serial killer in Canada even though I have heard about her.
DON'T, I say DON'T, name your daughter this. It's a pleasant name, I'll give you that, however, here in Canada, this name is forever associated with Karla Homolka (if you don't know who she is, search her). Let me tell you, this woman killed her own sister, and along with her husband kidnapped, raped, and murdered hordes of innocent girls. Don't taint your daughter with this name.

Actors Jan Tříska and Karla Chadimová have a daughter Karla Třísková.
I have a sister named Karla and she is one of the most caring and generous people I know. She once drove for twelve hours to come and see me when I got my heart broken. Since I associate this name with my sister, I say it rocks!
