Kaoru Matsumoto is a semi-retired Japanese professional wrestler, known by her ringname Dump Matsumoto, who competed in All Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling as one of the leading female wrestlers during the 1980s. The longtime leader of the stable Gokuaku Domei—which included Crane Yu, Condor Saito and Bull Nakano—she was one of the main rivals of the popular tag team Crush Gals. Their long running feud would become extremely popular in Japan during the 1980s, with their televised matches resulting in some of the highest rated in Japanese television as well as the promotion regularly selling out arenas.

Kaoru Hasuike is a Japanese citizen who was abducted by North Korean spies along with his girlfriend Yukiko Okudo. They were abducted from their hometown of Kashiwazaki in Niigata prefecture on July 19, 1978. Hasuike was a law student at the time. During their captivity, in May 1980, Hasuike and Okudo were married. They had two children – a daughter, Shigeyo, and a son, Katsuya. On October 15, 2002, the North Korean government allowed Hasuike, Okudo and other victims to leave North Korea to visit Japan. Once there, Hasuike and Okudo made the decision to remain in Japan and to plead for the release of their children, which was eventually allowed in 2004.

Kaoru is a Japanese musician, best known as the leader and one of the guitarists of the visual kei metal band Dir En Grey. He has been with the group since its inception in 1997 and was previously a member of La:Sadie's. He has composed most of Dir en grey's songs (at least up to the Vulgar album, at which individual credits for the music were dropped). His contributions display a fair amount of variety, ranging from slow ballads such as "Zakuro" to upbeat numbers like "Jessica". He performs many solos for the band, which vary strongly in feeling and tempo, similar to his compositions. Kaoru cites Hide as his biggest influence and the reason he plays guitar, saying "If I had never known him, I wouldn’t be who I am today."Revealing "Kaoru" to be his birth name in his book Dokugen (読弦), he's the only Dir En Grey member with a known real name.

Kaoru Morimoto was a Japanese playwright, director, translator, and actor. He is famous for his critically acclaimed play, A Woman's Life (Onna no isshō), one of Japan's most frequently staged plays post World War II. Morimoto's work was most popular during the post-war period but his plays are still read and performed today. He was born in Osaka, Japan in 1912 and later moved to Kyoto where he received a degree in English literature from Kyoto University in 1937. Morimoto died in 1946 after a long battle with tuberculosis.

Kaoru Mori is a Japanese manga artist from Tokyo. She is the creator of the successful manga series Emma, A Bride's Story and Shirley. Many of her works are centred on female characters in the 19th century, such as a maid in Victorian Britain and a bride in Turkic Central Asia. She also writes dōjinshi under the penname Fumio Agata.

Kaoru Betto was a Nippon Professional Baseball player. After playing for the Ōsaka Tigers for two years, Betto played for the Mainichi Orions from 1950 to 1957. In his first season with the Orions, Betto won the NPB's first Pacific League MVP Award and helped lead the team to victory in the first Japan Series. A T-shirt featuring a cartoon image of Kaoru Betto was worn by Jeff Bridges' characters in at least 3 films, including The Fisher King, Cold Feet, and The Big Lebowski.

Her nickname in television broadcasts is "koushuni kagayaku Kaoru-hime", (攻守に輝くカオル姫, translation: "Princess Kaoru who shines in offense and defense"). Also, she is sometimes known as "shiroi yousei" (白い妖精, translation: "White fairy") due in part to her fair skin. However, she is embarrassed to be called "Princess Kaoru" or "White fairy". She belongs to the volleyball team JT Marvelous of the V. League. In May 2008, she retired from the team and from organized volleyball.
