Huh, I always thought that this was a German form of Cameron, since the letter c doesn't usually represent a voiceless velar positive in German, with it usually being coupled with an h to form a voiceless palatal fricative instead. Huh. The more you know, I guess!

A notable FEMININE name bearer is an American science fiction and fantasy writer: Kameron Hurley. Her work has also been nominated for the Arthur C. Clarke Award, the BSFA Award, and the Nebula award; shortlisted for a Locus Award for Best Debut Novel; and made the Tiptree Award Honor List "for works of science fiction or fantasy that expand or explore one's understanding of gender."https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kameron_Hurley
I love the name Cameron, but to me it's too feminine. We went with Kameron (full name Kameron Shaun) instead, and I love the spelling. It's unique and looks more masculine to me. As well, our son is named for our favorite football players (Kam Chancellor and Shaun Alexander) and we love the tie-in!
