Today marks 20 years since the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster, which took 7 lives which includes Kalpana Chawla. Kalpana was the first Indian woman in space. After she died in the disaster, she was posthumously awarded the Congressional Space Medal of Honor. The other people who died were Rick Husband, William McCool, Michael Anderson, David Brown, Laurel Clark, and Ilan Ramon. May they rest in peace, for their legacy will live on forever ❤.
Kalpana Chakma is a human rights activist and feminist from Bangladesh who held the position of Organizing Secretary of the Hill Women's Federation. She and her two brothers were abducted on 12 June 1996 from her home at Lallyaghona village allegedly by the members of the Bangladesh Army. Kalpana Chakma is still missing. No one has been tried for her disappearance. She is presumed to have been killed after her abduction.

Kalpana Dash (7 July 1966 - 23 May 2019) was an Indian lawyer and mountaineer. She was the first Odia mountaineer to scale Mount Everest. She scaled Mount Everest on 21 May 2008, along with a team of five members from the United States, Canada and Nepal.
