My name is Kali, it's pronounced Kay-lee but everyone calls me Cali by mistake. I love my name but wouldn't wish the spelling on anyone.
This has become a very popular name, but they all pronounce it "Ka-li".
I'm American, when I see the spelling of Kali, I would pronounce it Kah-li or Cali. I've never associated it with Kayleigh, Kaylee, Kayley, only because their is nothing after the A, indicating a "long" A sound such as a Y or E as in my middle name Rae, but my last name is Kane as in cane or rhymes with rain. That is the great thing though, you could have the name Banana and pronounce it Baynaynay. Awesome name, I would definitely name a female child Kali yet pronounce it like Cali!
I'm an old Kali, 42, and honestly if you are going to name your kid Kali pronounce it Kah-lee. If not, spell it differently. There are numerous versions available. For people who are challenged by two-syllable names I tend to explain the pronunciation like this: Like Mohammad Ali... with a K.
My name is Kali, but it is pronounced Kay-lee.
Kali pronounced as Kah-Lee is the name of the Hindu goddess. The same spelling of Kali but pronounced like the name Callie is also Sanskrit name, but means maiden or bud, my mom claims that it also means energy. (Callie is Greek meaning beautiful).
This name is NOT pronounced how it's spelled! It would be nice to say it like Kallie, rhyming with Hallie and Allie.
Actually, to the user above, I know two Kalis and they both pronounce it like Callie.
My dog's name is Kali pronounced KAH-li, but everyone pronounces it Kaylee. Kind of annoying since that is definitely not how it's spelled.
Kali is also pronounced Kay-lee, not just Kah-lee. I also like the spelling "Hali" for Hailey, and they sound similar - Kali and Hali.
