People need to chill. How is this name not unique? Sorry it's not as bizarre as like Shanequa. Or as elderly sounding as Margret. It's over populated for a reason. People named their child Kaitlyn because it's beautiful and charming, unlike your ugly boring unoriginal name.

If this name is as common as people complain it is, why is it so far down on the top 100 names of 2015? Emma, Sophia, Olivia are top three, and boy are those names overused. Can you see a Grandma named either of those three names? Lol no, you would much rather see a Kaitlyn which can be shortened to Kait. And lastly, who cares if it's not spelled your basic traditional way of "Caitlin". Like, BORING. It looks so plain that way, honestly. Maybe not everyone wanted to go full out Irish and be the same like everyone else. Kaitlyn is still derived from Katharine. It also looks MUCH prettier.

My name is Kaitlyn and I love it. Yes there are a lot of people I know with the same name but to merit is not childish, it's who I am. I believe when I get older the name won't sound childish because it would have aged with me. Like people with the names Edith and Milly, when they were younger those names weren't old but to us now they seem like older names. I love my name being Kaitlyn so for all you haters... get over it. :)
