This is honestly my favorite name ever. There are so many nice nicknames like Fifi, Fini, Jo, Josie, Sephine, Ephi(ne) and many more. It can be cute but also strong and is suitable for any age. I write stories in my free time and I named two of my characters Josefine and Joséphine.
Love this name so much! The full name, Josephine, is so elegant and classy and reminds me of a humble and pretty lady or young girl. The nickname Josie is so cute, but if you wanted it to sound more edgy you could just say Effie. I personally love the name a lot. Definitely in my top 5.Edit; Welcome Josephine June! My second child, baby girl Josie, ended up with this name. I think is goes well with her brother, who's 4 years older. Josie and Sam!
Josephine seems to be getting a bit more attention recently. I honestly have to say that it makes me feel happy! I’ve always liked the name Josephine and its nickname “Josie”.
I have the name Josephine Christine and it is a very beautiful name. However, it is very long so the various nicknames come in handy. I have had Joey, Jo, Jojo, Josie, and right now I have been going by CJ.
In my opinion, Josephine is a beautiful name graced with class, elegance and loveliness. I love all of the potential nicknames, such as Jo, JoJo, Joey and Josie. I think Elizabeth and Rose would make for beautiful middle names. The name also brings to my mind the sweet song that Jack, from the Titanic, sung to Rose, which is a really heartwarming association. Overall, I think Josephine is a gorgeous name.
I like it. It sounds very fashionable and refined. Fin, Josie, and Joey are cute nicknames for Josephine. I personally see a brunette (any shade) with green or hazel eyes with olive-ish skin. I can see it on any girl, though. Josephina is pretty too, if you like that.
I don't really like the sound of the name, and the nickname Josie is well, um, not very pleasant, but definitely not the worst name in the world! (Really sorry if this offends anyone, Josephines have different characteristics, so I'm not judging anybody!)
Love this as a middle name! Wouldn't use as a first name, but that's just me! If I ever have a daughter, her name will be Ivy Josephine, or Louisa May, or Lydia Mavis or Lydia Jane. But I will definitely toss Josephine in there somewhere!

This name has always been beautiful and classy to me, saw it once in my older brother's high school yearbook and it's never left my head. In nearly every original book idea I have, I always make sure to include Josephine somewhere!
Josephine is beautiful. To me, it is clearly the name of a princess or a lady of the Victorian aristocracy. Josephine is an elegant, classic, feminine name, sensitive and full of vitality. I'm glad that others like it, but I hope it doesn't become painfully popular because it will lose charm.
My name is Josephine, and everyone calls me Josie. I like it, but I would never name my daughter Josephine. Two cousins and my great aunt also have Josephine, but in the form of a middle name! My middle names are Mary and Mildred.

I think Josephine Lucy would be nice name combo for a girl and I also think any girls with that name Josephine Lucy would be awesome!

Pretty name, although I despise the nickname 'Josie'. 'Jo' is much more pleasant. This is a name I would consider calling a future daughter if my brother weren't called Joe.
Josephine is a very beautiful name, I love it! The only forced feminine form of Joseph that doesn't get too much judgement like Jacobine. It's also a nice feminine form for Joseph as well as Josepha. Josephina is also nice. Makes a really good middle name especially if it's the first name of the grandmother who gave her granddaughter this as her middle name. So that means the family name is advanced. Josephine is a classy, elegant name!

I think the name Josephine Sonali is a cute name for your girls and that the name Josephine Sonali is an adorable name for newborn girls!

I really like the name Josephine Sonali and I think Josephine Sonali is lovely name plus that is what I am planning to name my one of my three daughters!

Josie is a cute nickname. Please don't use Jo. Jo isn't cute.
I think it's a classic, even though I grew up reading the Series of Unfortunate Events and listening to the audiobook for Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator over and over. Though, I am a huge fan of linguistics as well, so I suppose that may be a connection ^_^" Joseph is a good name already, and this isn't too bad. The nickname "Josie" is pretty cute, too.

I have a great-grandma who would be named Josephine in English (her real name is Josefina, I’m Hispanic and she was named after her mom Josefa aka Josepha). I love this name and I would give my daughter this name if I had one to honor her, maybe Angela Josephine or Josephine Angelina to honor my grandmother Mary of the Angels “Angela” (Maria de los Angeles “Angelita”) and Josephine (Josefina).
I love the name Josephine and I am planning to name my three daughters Josephine Sonali, Scarlett Ruma and Brittany Josephina!

This name is so lazy and terrible. Sounded like they just wanted to make a female version of Joseph and just added an "ine" to make it girly. Of course, they failed miserably. So lazy and terrible. Use a more feminine name.
It's a nice classic name, but seems to have lost its culture in modern usage (like many other names).

It's a nice name, but sounds rather like 'blaspheme'.

I think I prefer Josephine on a girl to Joseph on a boy. Joseph is just so common, Josephine is not. If I used it, it would be shortened to Josie only if my daughter liked.

I love this name Josephine! I want to name my daughter Josephine Brittany after Brittany Logano, the wife of Joey Logano.

Josie is an amazing wonderful name and we should all remember it when we are naming our children. It is a beautiful name for a girl as well as a boy. Remember that it exists when you get pregnant.

I love this name! It is the best name I have ever heard in my whole entire life! You should give your child this name! Your child should give your grandchild this name! Everyone on earth should have this name! Josephine is the most beautiful in the whole world! Imagine how much better the world would be if everyone was just named Josephine! It would be so much better! There are so many nicknames for Josephine: Jo, Jojo, Jose, Josie. I especially like the nickname Josie! That nickname is just so great! Best name/ nickname ever! I'm in love with both.
Even though its roots are in the name "Joseph", Josephine is a very feminine, beautiful, classy and sophisticated name. A timeless classic with many good nickname alternatives.
I've never really thought much of the name Josephine until my cousin named her daughter this. Jo/Jojo, as we call her, is one of the sweetest and most precocious toddlers you'll ever meet, and she made me love her name. I think Josephine is a dynamic name- she can be more soft and gentle, while also being lively and spirited; I can picture an adorable little girl like Jojo and also see her growing up to become a lovely accomplished adult.

I think this name is just beautiful. So feminine and classy. There is a song called 'Josephine' that Chris Rhea wrote for his daughter.
If there were not a family-tradition (and personal belief) of using the parents' forenames as their childrens' middle names (father for son; mother for daughter), then I would be absolutely possessed into using "Josephine."It is a delightfully charming, classic, and strength-filled name, by all means... but I am not quite sure that I would enjoy it as a first, personally.
I have loved this name ever since I read the book Little Women and fell in love with the character Josephine, however I have an ex-boyfriend named Joseph and that has made me hesitate in actually using it. However, I think that it's a fantastic name, and I will probably end up using it as a middle name for my first daughter.

Ah, Josephine is one of my absolute FAVORITE names. It is so sophisticated, and comes with the cutesy, girly nickname Josie (which I LOVE) the tomboyish Jo (which I love, thanks to Winona Ryder's Jo March) or the more uncommon Joey. All of the nicknames are gorgeous, the name itself is gorgeous--if I marry a man named Joseph I might have to use Josephine as our daughter's middle name! Absolutely STUNNING.
I really don't like the English pronunciation of the 'J', but in French it's much softer, you say it with the 'zh' sound. That sounds 100 times more pretty to me. Also the old nickname for Josephine is Fifi.
I think this name is very pretty and underused. It is old-fashioned and I like it. I might even name my daughter that. I would call her "Jo" for short, though.
An evil woman is called this in the book I am writing. Needless to say, I am not particually fond of it, as I think it sounds snobby.

I find the name Josephine classic and charming but still not very pretty. I also find the nickname Josie cute, but rather weak. Jo makes a better, more substantial nickname into adulthood.

Josephine is a very sophisticated and undated name. The nicknames are very nice, and can fit any sort of person.
