Jay x Nya from Ninjago "Jay + Nya = Jaya!" Aside from that, a nice name. I would never be able to use it/see it without thinking of Ninjago though. β‘π.
I like it when itβs pronounced JAY-ah. It sounds better in my opinion. But either way, I love the meaning, Jaya is a nice name. Not trendy, not too common, overall just nice.
This is my name, pronounced JAY-ah. I live in Canada and have never met anyone with my name before. Maybe I'm biased but I definitely prefer this pronunciation to JIE-ah.
This is among my favorite names. As was said above, it means victory in Sanskrit. Most Indians would pronounce it like JAH-yah, but that might be difficult for an anglophone, in which case I would recommend the equally gorgeous pronunciation of JIE-yah. It's hard to believe that this name isn't hideously popular, I mean, it has a fantastic sound, meaning, and look. Whatever. I'm happy that it's remained in relative obscurity.
I have two different friends who are both named this and one of them said her name was a variation of Gaia, which is the earth in Greek mythology (I think) and the other said that she was named after Mt. Jayapura in New Guinea.
