From Tibetan འཇམ་དཔལ ('jam-dpal) meaning "gentle splendour", derived from འཇམ ('jam) meaning "soft" and དཔལ (dpal) meaning "splendour, glory, magnificence". This is the Tibetan name for the bodhisattva Manjushri.
