Meaning & History

In Greek mythology, Isse is the daughter of the Lesbian king Macareus (born of an incestuous relationship with his sister Canace), hence she is also called 'Isse Macareïs', i.e. "Isse the daughter of Macareus". She is said to have been seduced by the god Apollo disguised as a shepherd.
