Here's PROOF that THIS name can be FEMININE in SCOTLAND and OTHER PARTS.

(Just type "Islay" in the "enter" name section and see)
BTW in Scotland, 16 GIRLS in SCOTLAND were named ISLAY in 2019.

In modern-day ENGLISH, this name can be FEMININE because of the PRONUNCIATION, making it UNISEX.
In England and Wales, it was given to 18 girls in 2012.
In the USA, it was also very recently given to 20 girls in 2018.

The Island of Islay's name is pronounced IE-la, not IE-lay as many people assume. In Scotland where the name is most popular, the form Islay is still given to girls rather than boys, because of the same feminine pronunciation.
