It's worth noting that due to transliteration, Alexander The Great is referred to as "Al-Iskandar" where "Iskandar" is treated as his title while "Al" is treated as the Arabic equivalent of the English definite article, "The".
It is written as "إسكندر" in Jawi, the Perso-Arabic script used to write Malay in parts of Malaysia and Brunei.
My uncle's surname is Iskandar and he is Indonesian... never knew it could serve as a given name too.
