Meaning & History
Isang is a traditional Korean name arbitrarily formed of two syllables. The hanja used are 伊 (i) "he, she, it" and 桑 (sang) "mulberry tree".The same characters are used in Chinese Bibles to render the Hebrew name Ethan, but this is probably a pure coincidence.Notable namesakes include the Korean-German composer Isang Yun and the German cellist Isang David Enders.
