Sarah is the one who laughed because she thought what God said was impossible, not Abraham."Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also/ And the Lord said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh" -Genesis 18:12-15. [noted -ed]
Isaac was the first child of the once barren Hannah. After he was weaned she took him to the temple and gave him back to the LORD just as she had promised she would. Isaac became a person who was very well respected.
From my studies, I've learnt that Isaac means "laughter". Either way, both are sufficient for this name. At the time, this is my all-time favorite name.

The name is actually from the 'he' form of the future tense of the verb לצחוק - 'to laugh' or 'to joke' in modern Hebrew. In biblical Hebrew it had more of the idea of 'to rejoice'. So, strictly speaking, Isaac (יצחק - pronounced 'yits-khak') in biblical times meant 'he will rejoice'. (The 'kh' sound is a guttural sound pronounced like the 'ch' in 'loch' or the German 'ch'.)To dreadfulxsorry - the word for laughter is צחוק, pronounced roughly 'tse-khok'. So, while the name Isaac is related to the word 'laughter' (or 'rejoicing' in biblical Hebrew), it actually means 'he will laugh' in modern Hebrew or 'he will rejoice' in biblical Hebrew. [noted -ed]
