My real name is Ily (legal and birth), and I'm from Israel and speak Hebrew as a first language. In Hebrew my name is more similar to Ilai or Eli, but when my mum chose my English spelling she spelled it Ily (Her English isn't the greatest) because she didn't want Eli (the common English spelling of my Hebrew name) to be confused with how it's read phonetically.Funnily enough, she was oblivious to the "I Love You" acronym until I told her a few years ago. I kind of like it though, it's unique, and memorable. Although I do have to explain my name's spelling or pronunciation whenever I meet someone new.
