Hyacinth (died 108) was a young Christian living at the start of the second century, who is honored as a martyr and a saint by both the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church. Hyacinth is sometimes called by his Latin name Hyacinthus (in French: Hyacinthe; Spanish: Jacinto; and Italian: Giacinto). According to tradition, he was a native of Caesarea in Cappadocia, a member of a Christian family.

Hyacinth Tungutalum (1946 – 2009) was an Australian politician and the first Indigenous Australian to be elected to a state or territory parliament.
It seems I'm in the minority here, but that's okay. It takes all kinds. I think this name is extremely feminine and was surprised to find people thinking otherwise, but whatever. As far as flowery names for boys go, I really like the ancient Roman name Florian, instead. I'm sure that people would say the same to me. To each their own.

Beautiful. I think this variant works on either sex.
It is truly disappointing to see this name largely regarded as feminine. The name Hyacinth comes from a tale of male lovers and untimely, accidental death. Seems in rather poor taste to consider using this name in reference to a female character, or an actual person, but I digress. Perhaps I'm simply biased since I know the history, or because I've only ever heard this name in reference to a man, whether he be fictional or real.
