This is a last name, not a first name. Sounds ugly as a first name by the way.

Though I do associate this name positively with the character from the cartoon Gargoyles, I find it too surname-y for a person. It doesn't sound fitting on anyone as a first name, and Hud just sounds weird as a nickname.
I find this name quite annoying and I'm not sure why it's even used as a first name. It's historic, the Hudson Trading Company (Lewis and Clark), it's the name of a river. I know three Hudson's under five and they are all handfuls! Avoid this name if you're wanting a sweet, well-behaved boy. Also, Huddie is a terrible nickname.
You are wrong! My name is Hudson and I'm not a handful like you said. Haha! Instead, I'm very calm and love to study. Where I live (Brazil), very few guys have this name, but I like it!
I'm not crazy about this as a first name, but it doesn't sound quite as pretentious and elitist as Sanford or as low-class and tacky as Jackson. I guess Hud isn't such a terrible nickname.
