I've actually encountered a couple Huckleberrys; one in real life and one as someone's baby's middle name I saw on the internet. It's definitely out there.
Huckle Cat is the main protagonist of Richard Scarry’s Busy Town books and the tv show. Scarry nicknamed his only child Huck (his legal name was Richard Scarry jr). I think this is a phenomenal nickname (I would probably use Finn and nickname him Huckleberry).
I think the previous commenters got it exactly right. Huckleberry is ugly, cool, tacky, and legendary. I love it, and I kind of hate it too, but I genuinely think it could suit the right person very well. The association with the character will always be there (having never read the book, I immediately think of Huckleberry Finn every time), which is why I tend to prefer it as a middle name, but it's an interesting and strong choice either way.

I like unusual names, but this name was never on my list until I met a ten year old boy a few years ago named Huckleberry. His father referred to his son proudly by his full name, not "Huck." The little boy wore it so well, was so kind, polite, and gorgeous, and it made me love the name. I think "Huck" is cute, too.
