When used with "xi" in "xi huan" it is the Chinese equivalent of the verb "to like". In Chinese pinyin, "x" is prounounced as th "sh" sound as in "sheep".
In J.R.R.Tolkien's mythology Huan is a great wolfhound of the Blessed Realm, friend and helper of Beren and Luthien. The name means 'great dog, hound'.
