Meaning & History

Derived from hrīm ("rime, hoarfrost") and gríma ("person wearing a helmet"). It is an intensification of the name Grímnir. In Norse mythology this is the name of a giant who lives in the land of the dead. Skírnir threatens to send Gerðr to him.
