This name can be used as 久 (kyuu, ku, hisa.shii) meaning "long time, old story" or 寿 (shuu, ju, su, kotobuki, kotobu.ku, kotoho.gu, hisa) meaning "congratulations, longevity, one's natural life."Hisa was moderately popular in the Edo period (1603-1868) and in the Meiji period (1868-1912). By the Taishō period (1912-1926), however, it became uncommon.
