Meaning & History
This name is comprised of two parts. The first is חצר (hasar), meaning "to cluster". It also may relate to חצר (haser), meaning "settlement" or "village".The second part is of uncertain etymology. It is ו (waw), which may mean "his". It may actually be י (yod), which would denote the word as an adjective, possibly making the name's full meaning "clusterly". Another theory is that Hezro is actually a Hebrew transcription of a foreign name from another language. What name and language it may originate from is unknown. In the Bible, Hezro the Carmelite is one of David's warriors. Hezro is only mentioned once in the Bible, in 1 Chronicles 11:37.
