Meaning & History

His name means Faithful, but can be rendered as "God is faithful" because of God keeping his promise to bless him.

He is the grandson of the prophet Samuel. He later becomes King David's seer in the temple and is appointed as one of the chief musicians of the temple. He later is blessed by God with fourteen sons and three daughters. 1 Chronicles 25:5 depicts this as fulfillment of God's promise to bless him. (His family name had been ruined by his father and Uncle the prophet Samuel's sons).
