A seemingly unpopular opinion, but I think this spelling is tons more clear if you prefer the "Hel-ain-uh" pronunciation. I can see Helen-uh and "Heh-lee-nuh" easily either way for Helena, but I'd never guess it'd be pronounced Hel-ain-uh but I prefer than pronunciation. Personally it'd bother me to use "Helena" because I'd read it differently and that'd drive me crazy. Helaina looks more phonetically correct for my preferred pronunciation; with the added benefit of it translating easily to the popular nickname Lainey. According to the SSA data 20-30 Helainas have been born every year for many years so it's not completely unheard of either! My husband also likes it a lot so if this baby is girl she's probably going to be a Helaina Renee.
