Could possibly be derived from the Danish word "have" meaning "garden."

I've met an old lady who's name is Eva (pronounced Yeva). She told me, that her parents, being Jewish, gave her name Hava. She changed it, because she lived in the country, where were many antisemites and it was too hard to live there with a Jewish name.

I believe this is also the Arabic form of Eve, might be spelled different though, I think it means "wind" in Urdu.

I believe that one of the daughters in 'Fiddler on the Roof' bears this name.
