Hana was already common during the Edo period in Japan. Its most common spelling during the early 1900s was as ハナIt went up as high as #3 in 1912 but then fell out of the top 10.In recent years it has become popular again as 花. It reached #6 in 2015 and #10 in 2016.Hana was also the 3rd most popular name (by reading) in Japan in 2018.

Hana Takeda is a Japanese voice actress from Kanagawa. Her forte is that of older-sister character types. Probably best known as Deneve from Claymore and Aizen's fraccion Loly from Bleach.
Hana Usui is a Japanese artist.Hana Usui was born in Tokyo in 1974 and studied art history at Waseda University and Japanese calligraphy. In 2000, she moved to Vienna to start a career as a free visual artist. In the years that followed she primarily worked in Berlin. Since 2011, Hana Usui has lived and worked in Vienna and Bolzano-Bozen (Italy). Her drawings are made of black or white oil paint, which she carves into paper with a screwdriver and often embeds into ink washes.
It's a nice name, but choose it with caution. In the German Wikipedia Article about Geishas, you can read that the City Quarters where Geishas lived were called Hanamachis. In that case "Hana" was a euphemism for a Prostitute!
